Homeroom Blog

Posted by ♥ wiwi ♥ at 12:02 AM 0 comments
For the past four weeks, I have spent most of my time developing a homeroom blog for my school. Initially, it was only a personal project of mine; thinking that the blog will benefit all, not only the school community, but also the parents and potential students.

However, it suddenly became such an important task for me when Innovation Day committee requested school-related innovations from the teachers and staffs.

So I made a short abstract stating that blogging is a relatively effective way for an institution to communicate with internal and external audiences, and how the homeroom blog will offer a variety of information, including sections on activities, creative corner and students’ achievements.

Honestly, I enjoyed the whole process of designing and editing. After constantly adding and deleting elements in the blog, this is the final product that I came up with ~

My next huge task is to add more materials and try to optimize the blog for educational purposes.

Already in our heart, someday in our arms

...But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and that you love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not.

On July 19, I went to the doctor for an ultrasound scan. Earlier that morning I took a UPT; to my surprise I saw two very clear lines. The doctor then confirmed my pregnancy and told me the baby measured approximately 6 weeks.
Subhanallah! My sweetheart and I have been waiting for this moment for so long but still the news of my pregnancy was totally unexpected. I officially have a due date. March 5.

However, along with the good news came the upsetting part; they could not detect a heartbeat (I did scheduled a second opinion appointment at another place). The doctors decided we should come back in two weeks and have another ultrasound.
We're trying to be optimistic knowing that there is nothing we can do at this point. We're hoping for the best and prepare ourselves for the worst as there might be a chance of ... I asked my husband if I could tell everyone and he insisted that we wait. We chose to tell only our parents, families and a few colleagues.
We were excited, overjoyed, anxious- not knowing the faith of the baby I was carrying. While we nervously wait for our next review, we pray to Allah to give us strength and patience. Allah does not put a burden on a soul that it can not bear.
I did a second ultrasound scan on July 31 at KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital. Our worst nightmare came true; no fetal heartbeat noted. I was found to have a missed miscarriage corresponding to 7 weeks of pregnancy. The unexplainable sadness kicked in.
I was scheduled to have an ERPOC on August 2. It is exactly 2 weeks after I found out I was pregnant.

Our ttc journey will start again.
I know that Allah has been with us each and every step of the way.

I feel helpless sometimes. Especially, when the people around me announce they're expecting. But then I try to remind myself that I am blessed. Allah loves me just as much as those ladies. And then I go hug my husband.

Don’t think about the few things you didn't get after praying; think about the countless beautiful things Allah gave you without asking…

Ramadan Mubarak

In spite of our best intentions and efforts we are likely to commit a mistake or error at times. So asked for Allah's forgiveness.
Whoever makes a habit out of istighfar (seeking God's forgiveness), Allah will facilitate for him his provision, ease for him his matters, and protect his status and strength.
– Ibn Khathir
May Allah shower His blessings upon you in this Holly month of Ramadan.

Mr Hubby, we don't know if this Ramadan is our last, so let this Ramadan be our best ~

Life Career Love

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.
– Helen Keller

Dear readers, I am very happy to let you know that my husband and I are now well settled in our new place. My husband has been so hard working in performing the tasks given to him. I am really proud of him.
As for me, I find myself being more committed and passionate in teaching. Here life is somewhat work oriented and most of our time is spent on school programs, academic development and teacher professionalism. Anyway, I am really grateful and want to make the best of this opportunity.

I tried to write a post every month, but for the last 14 months there has been none. I must be so caught up with my work and missed the chance to update my blog.
I make sure that I will find time to drop a few lines on my blog after this.

Against All Odds

So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.
– Christopher Reeve

This year I didn’t get the chance to celebrate the joy of receiving SPM result together with my students and fellow teachers. Still, I am delighted to know that my students have done so well in their exam. They have every right to be happy as the school has once again been ranked first among MRSM in East Malaysia.

To all dedicated teachers,
It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving.

I have students texting me saying how thankful they are for having me as their teacher. ‘Thank you, teacher’ is often a good way of expressing gratitude. Whenever I think of those words now I am reminded of the role played by a teacher; not only to teach, but to give cheer, courage and counsel.

My dearest students, it is nice to know that you have put in your best effort to achieve a good grade for my subject, to make me smile and feel proud, to prove that you are worthy of my love, compassion and endless patience. I wish you the best in life and hope you continue to develop the many talents Allah has given you ~

Forever Love

Posted by ♥ wiwi ♥ at 10:05 AM 0 comments
♥ [December 9, 2012]

I have a husband who loves me for who I am...
who doesn’t mind to take the turn
to cook meal and do laundry and irons,
who can put up with my passion for animals,
who can handle me at my worst.

My hubby may not hug me in public or post romantic words on facebook.
He said that those moments are ours, just between the two of us.

For all of these things, I am deeply grateful.

Happy Anniversary

Dear Allah, thank you for your continued blessings that have enabled us to reach another anniversary. My heart is filled with joy that I am worthy of the love and respect I receive from my husband. I am blessed beyond measure.

A Happy Kitty Named Choco

Posted by ♥ wiwi ♥ at 1:38 PM 3 comments
Meet Choco, my new long haired tortie kitten. She’s five-month-old when we brought her home on October 14.

I took some photos of Choco when she posed prettily in her cage for the first time.

*FYI, Choco didn’t like the blue bed. I had to take it out of her cage – otherwise she decided to rest on the litterbox instead!

Whenever Choco happened to see moving things, (be it a pile of papers that gets blown away by the ceiling fan, all kind of strings or plastic covers) she would never rest easy. Choco’s all time favourite is plastic bottle caps / lids. She would play with it; move it with her hand, chase after it, attempt (more like pretend) to bite it off, and struggle with it in a funny way.

When extremely excited, Choco could spent all evening just playing. But of course, she would have to take frequent short breaks to catch her breath ^_^

Choco finds it's fun scattering my students' exam papers and after that lying on them.

I just let her having fun in messing everything as it was such a cute sight.

Pipit Wonderful Market Part Two

Posted by ♥ wiwi ♥ at 8:20 PM 2 comments
When I first learned about Pipit Wonderful Market, I got so excited and started to search for more information related to the event. I even considered getting flight ticket to KL since it’s going to happen on weekend.

So imagine my reaction when I received the offer letter to attend a course in KL on that particular time. Maybe I can to go to the event after all! I started to plan everything. Like how am I going to get there, how to adjust my schedule, who am I going with…

When the day finally came, I found myself alone (since my friends got other commitment and my sister had to sit for her test). But that didn’t stop me. My last choice is to just go there all by myself. So, I’ve downloaded the map of the location and the picture of Annexe Gallery itself. I then asked the taxi driver to send me there.

Some of the precious items that I managed to grab…

Azreenchan

Zeropumpkin Studio

Pfang & Half-lemon

Oh and Ah & Slovec Handcraft

Murdoodles & Dcreativeaholic

I’m proud to be part of this event!

*This is a very late update of Pipit Wonderful Market. After I came back from KL, I've got just one day to finish my work at school. The next day, my husband and I (with two wabbits & a cat) took off on a 6 hours road trip to Ranau (hubby's place) for school holiday. We spent the night at Ranau and continued our journey to KK (my place) before we went on a vacation at Langkawi.

It's time: MATHS November 8, 2012

Posted by ♥ wiwi ♥ at 10:30 PM 1 comments
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of teaching the whole year round. The students were being cooperative (well, most of the times actually). They were attentive and engaged during lessons. It's true that they can be challenging sometimes. But that's part of the life of a teacher. You must be able to find your way and deal with all kind of situations wisely. I chose to take that step forward rather than turn around and walk away. I know I won't be the person I am today if it's not because of them.
My students will sit for their Maths exam tomorrow. Hwaiting~

SPM 2012 candidates:

You've got a lot of good things heading your way. So, be sure to go for it. It's up to you to believe in yourself. May the force be with you! Good luck in your exam ^_^

It's a rainy Saturday afternoon

Posted by ♥ wiwi ♥ at 4:06 PM 0 comments
I’ve spent two days attending the course organized by IALKM, Kursus Kemahiran Asas Kaunseling untuk Pendidik Mara. There are actually several interesting quotes that I would love to share here.

A smile is a powerful weapon. You can even break ice with it.

Talking comes naturally but getting people to listen is an art.

If we want people to listen to us, we should start listening to others first.

We should accept our students the way they are.

There is a bunch of issues brewing at school. Most of them related to students; about their attitude, academic performance and other common teenage issues. As a teacher, I must handle them (the issues) with care.

Teenagers are young, immature, insecure, afraid, and definitely overwhelmed. It is in their nature to battle all adults and authority. They are still going through the learning process and have difficulty in determining what is right and what is wrong.  Because of that, I try to be supportive of their concerns. Sometimes, what they need most is someone to just listen; and I’m really good at that.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn life around.
– Leo F. Buscaglia

My dear students, teachers are human beings too. It’s quite stressful already dealing with lots of tasks at once (personal or family matters, financial, health, work, etc). And then there is this expectation of the society we live in that makes teachers entirely responsible for a student's academic progress.

All of these might affect the way we handle things. But we never intended to make your life miserable.

It is every teacher's wish to see his or her students succeed in school and in life. You should know that we always have your best interests at heart.

Internet Shopping

Posted by ♥ wiwi ♥ at 11:39 PM 1 comments
Internet shopping. Is it good or bad? I knew my hubby would approve it (considering the fact that he would stride ahead impatiently while I enjoyed every moment looking into shop windows ^_^).

My very own first online shopping experience was buying pedigreed wabbits. Well, there’s a reason for that. Since pedigreed wabbits are very rare in Sabah, I had to import them from an established breeder in Peninsular Malaysia. How did it work? They also have websites (and facebook too) where they provide pictures and information of the wabbits.

Other than that, I've bought craft supplies, e-books, digital arts, customized money packet and tags, Baju Kurung, hijabs, bags and accessories. So far, I’m quite satisfied with the products’ quality. WARNING: You can get addicted to it!

Wiwi & Fafa

Posted by ♥ wiwi ♥ at 10:30 AM 4 comments
A friend I haven’t seen in years came back into my life. We quickly realize just how much we’ve missed each other. She has changed a lot but since we were close, it’s a change for the better.

Fafa is a lovely lass. She’s one of the closest friends I had during my high school years. I was delighted when she recently announced her engagement to her loved one. She just so happens to be the perfect addition to his family and they all took Fafa to their hearts.

I’ve got this meeting in KL on Monday. Since I’m going there alone, I’ve decided to contact Fafa and asked if we could meet. Luckily, Fafa agreed to accompany me on my last day in KL. On Tuesday evening, we had dinner together at SOGO and went to Mid Valley. Fafa spent that night with me in the hotel. We had so many things to share. Next morning, after having our breakfast, we went to Jalan TAR and spent hours there just to buy hijabs and books. We said good-bye to each other at 12 noon.

Season's Blessings

Posted by ♥ wiwi ♥ at 3:22 PM 0 comments
Syawal is just around the corner. I believe that it's truly one of the season’s blessings that make me feel very generous; both emotionally and financially.

So I’ve decided to forgive and forget. I try to let go of all my former pain, hurt, mistakes, resentments, bitterness, anger and guilt.

Something special from Mrs Maths & Mr Counsellor

I know that I will be short on cash once the holidays are over; after shopping, preparing for the celebration and giving out money packets. But, I'm willing to do all it takes for the sake of this festive season.
